I got my start in the meat processing industry while I was still in high school, working part-time at the same plant where my father worked. What began as a part-time job would eventually become a 34-year career in food manufacturing.

 

After high school, I attended college and later went to work for the USDA, gaining valuable experience from the regulatory side of the industry. I eventually returned to private industry—and to the same processing plant where I had started—this time as a HACCP Coordinator.

 

By my mid-20s, I had become an Assistant Plant Manager. From there, my career took me through numerous leadership roles, including Plant Manager and General Manager, and eventually into owning and operating my own processing facility.

 

Over 34 years, I have experienced the challenges of food manufacturing firsthand. I have made mistakes, solved problems, built teams, improved processes, and learned lessons that can't always be found in a textbook.
